Residential Moving

Full-service home and apartment moving with careful furniture handling, loading, and transport. From a single piece of furniture to a whole household, our team packs, loads, hauls, and places your belongings — local moves around Iowa City or long-distance moves across state lines.

Every house is different, and we don't do cookie-cutter quotes. We've moved studio apartments out of third-floor walk-ups near the University of Iowa and full households into homes out in Johnson County. Before we give you a number, we ask the questions that actually matter — how many bedrooms, sure, but also whether that armoire comes apart, if the stairs have a landing, and whether you need us to disconnect the washer.

How it works

Our residential moving process

1

Walkthrough & quote

We talk through your inventory, access, and timeline — in person or by video — and give you a firm, binding quote. No surprise fees on move day.

2

Prep & protect

We pad-wrap furniture, disassemble what needs it, and lay down floor protection. Fragile and oddly shaped items get a plan before they get lifted.

3

Load & transport

The same crew that quoted your move loads and secures it. For local moves we usually wrap up in a day; interstate moves stay on one truck, start to finish.

4

Place & reassemble

We set everything in the room you want it and reassemble what we took apart — we don't drop boxes at the door and leave.

The details

We run a 26-foot box truck with the dollies, straps, appliance carts, and padded blankets to handle a full household without babying it. The older homes around the Northside and Longfellow have tight 1920s stairwells, so we measure before we commit to a plan. If a sectional won't make the turn, we'd rather know in the driveway than wedged on the landing. For interstate moves, your belongings ride on our truck the whole way — no transfer to a national van line, no terminal where your boxes sit for a week.

“When you hire us, you get my crew and my phone number”

— not a call center in another state. If something comes up on your move, I want to hear about it and fix it. — Mohamed Soliman, Owner

What our customers say

★★★★★
“Moving from Chicago to Iowa City felt overwhelming until we found Freight Bridge. Mohamed walked us through the whole process and his crew handled our stuff like it was their own. Not a single scratch on anything. They even helped us rearrange furniture after unloading. Worth every penny.”
Amanda R. · Chicago, IL
★★★★★
“We moved our dental practice from Coralville to a new space in Iowa City. Freight Bridge came in Saturday morning and we were seeing patients by Monday. They disassembled and reassembled our equipment without any issues. Mohamed is a pro — he spotted a few potential problems with the new layout before we even started.”
Tom L. · Coralville, IA
★★★★☆
“Shipped a load of restaurant equipment from Minneapolis to a buyer in Des Moines. Pickup and delivery were both on schedule. The only hiccup was a small mix-up on the delivery time window, but they called ahead and sorted it out. Equipment arrived undamaged and the price was better than the other quotes I got.”

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you handle long-distance and interstate moves?

Yes. We handle long-distance moves across state lines, not just local moves around Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. Whether you're moving from Iowa City to Des Moines or from Iowa to Oregon, we'll get your belongings there safe.

Can you move just a few large items instead of a whole house?

Absolutely. We handle single-item and partial moves — a couch, an appliance, a few rooms of furniture — as well as full-household relocations. You don't need to fill a whole truck to get our help.

What areas do you serve for local residential moves?

We cover the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids corridor for local moves, including Coralville, North Liberty, and surrounding towns. For anything beyond that, we offer interstate service to 49 states.

Do you provide packing and loading services?

Yes. We load, secure, transport, and unload your items. Let us know if you'd like help packing boxes or just the heavy lifting and transport — we'll tailor the service to what you need.

How far in advance should I book a residential move?

We recommend booking at least two weeks ahead, especially during peak season (May–September). That said, we're a small operation and can often accommodate last-minute requests — give us a call and we'll see what we can do.

Is Freight Bridge LLC licensed and insured for residential moves?

Yes. We operate with proper licensing and insurance for both local and interstate moves. Your belongings are covered while they're in our care.

Do you offer furniture disassembly and reassembly?

We can disassemble and reassemble most furniture that requires it — bed frames, tables, shelving units, and modular furniture. Just let us know what needs taken apart when you book.
